Braggin’ on: The Uvalde Leader-News

PUBLISHER CRAIG GARNETT recently sent along some exciting news: The Uvalde Leader-News won first place in general excellence in the 2011 South Texas Press Association Better Newspaper Contest.

The awards were presented in mid-April at the STPA annual convention. The Uvalde Leader-News competed in Division 3 for semi-weekly newspapers. It also received a third-place award for page design.

The South Texas Press Association is the largest regional newspaper organization in the United States.

In a brief note, Garnett said:

We had never won the general excellence division until undergoing the redesign that you completed for us. We now get extremely positive comments from judges regarding the overall appearance of the Leader-News.

The Uvalde Leader-News was a Henninger Consulting redesign in the spring of 2010.
Congratulations to Craig, Editor Carol Kothmann and designers Meghann Garcia and Gloria Resma.
