IT’S GOOD TO SEE this blog serving as a tool to make us all better.
When Jerry Bellune of the Lexington County (SC) Chronicle saw Kristin Coker’s July 4 page he sent this note to the staff at his paper, along with a link to the page:
“Please take a look at this.
What would you think of doing a really big flag on A1 for our pre-Veterans Day issue Nov. 5.
We could accompany it with readers’ thoughts on veterans and Veterans Day in that issue.
We would need to run an invitation asking for their thoughts as early as our Sept. 5 edition.:”
Yep…that’s the way it works!
AMY OVERTON at The Citizen of East Alabama offers this recent page for comment.
Says Amy: “Since I made a comment about someone’s page, I thought it was only fair to send one for posting.
I chose to send this one because:
1. It is the most current page.
2. The person who designed this page stepped out of his comfort zone when he designed it.
3. I am on vacation and had nothing to do with the design. So have at it! :)”
FROM ED: I like the treatment of the Michael Jackson lead, including letting just-a-little-bit of text flow over the photo at the top of the story. The rail is a bit busy but the 4th of July teaser is very attractive.
So, as Amy says: Have at it!
