MANY THANKS TO KRISTIN for her occasional submissions here. Just when I need entries, she comes through with something interesting for us to see. Here’s another.
Kristin’s note follows, then her page. And, of course, Ed throws out a few comments.
FROM KRISTIN: Thought I would send you another page since you’re begging for pages. This page is OK. I really didn’t have a lot of time to work with it. But I think it’s cute. We were doing a story on the Miniature Society and this woman’s long-time involvement with the club. I knew when I looked at the photos that I wanted to make a little mini house myself. I even made the chimney a web promo for more photos on our site. At the top of the page is a replica of a place called “The Oaks.” I cut the background out to keep the focus on the house and all its tiny, flawless details. Do you think it’s too much?
• The text type is too wide. Try to keep text between 39-52 characters (counting spaces and punctuation). In some cases here, you have at least 90 characters, making the text fairly difficult to read.
• I would have like to seen the shot at the top larger, so I could check out the details.
• You needed to add some space between words in the “Miniature Society…” subhead. Some of these words seem to run into each other.
Still, I like the page. And I really like the way you subbed the “A” in “MAGAZINE” with the peak of the house in the top photo. Very subtle makes for very nice.
As always, folks, your comments and criticisms welcome!
